The journey of Bemberg
The circular stories of C.L.A.S.S.
Laying the foundations for a more sustainable world is no longer an option but an essential structural revolution that must happen now. This was the topic under discussion at Smart Voice ‘The Circular Stories of C.L.A.S.S.: the journey of BembergTM by Asahi Kasei towards smart, responsible and contemporary luxury’ organised by C.L.A.S.S. eco hub, which took place on Thursday 27 May. Four unique and complementary brands shared why they chose BembergTM as the main ingredient for their style and fashion journeys for the contemporary consumer.
“BembergTM offers a unique combination of characteristics such as innovation and quality. The material is able to create beautiful fabrics that are fluid with a unique feel and exclusive appearance,” comments Ettore Pellegrini, Marketing & Sales Manager at Asahi Kasei Fibers Italia.
A specialist and expert on innovative fibres, he spoke at the session to outline BembergTM‘s story from its origins to the present day and illustrate its various applications, which were later demonstrated by other speakers. Like Paolo Verdoia, Lining research and development raw materials at Ermenegildo Zegna, who has handled the development of raw materials at Ermenegildo Zegna Group for 14 years. During the online meeting, he spoke about the brand’s collaborations with manufacturers of responsible and high quality materials like BembergTM, the brand’s approach to sustainability, and future projects.
Gilberto Calzolari, the winner of the C.L.A.S.S. ICON 2020 new generation award, who used BembergTM in his latest A/W 2021.22 collection entitled ‘At this stage’, also took part in the session. Camilla Carrara, the founder and zero-waste designer at Zerobarracento, said “We use BembergTM in our products for two fundamental reasons: firstly, because it is so versatile from a style point of view; and secondly, but no less importantly, because this fibre has circular values in line with our zero-waste commitment.”
“By deciding to work with BembergTM, we were making an exclusive and sustainable choice to offer a new business opportunity to garment-makers, designers, brands and manufacturers who believe in and commit to fashion that is not only responsible but also premium and exclusive,” says Alessandro Ivaldi, Director of the Carnet Business Unit at Ratti Group, which makes and distributes some of the best fabrics for made-to-measure men’s and womenswear worldwide. Giusy Bettoni, founder and CEO of C.L.A.S.S. eco hub and the moderator of the meeting, concluded, “Responsible innovation is the DNA of contemporary innovators who can go the extra mile and create value. This is needed in order to make constant improvements and propose a cutting-edge wardrobe with quality credentials that respond in a versatile and responsible way to the requirements of consumers today.”
