lace lab
The memory of old lace-makers weaving lace by hand or by shuttle meets contemporary technology, producing Lace Lab’s all-new detailed decorative constructions. The craft tradition of an ancient and highly sophisticated artform such as lace is reworked by the latest generation instruments to create flat weaves or three-dimensional laceworks. 3D prints, laser cuts and digital processes harness data to create new ornamental designs. Cutwork, puckering, overlapping layers create repeated movements like works of computer art. Classic rugs lose the weight of weaving to become graphical objects. Accessories with an 18th century feel are proposed in neon colours and innovative materials.
