Emmetex for Art with Studio Mamo
Berrak Zeynep Okyar’s ‘Mother of Pearl’ capsule collection drops
Emmetex has always supported upcoming talents in art and design through an ongoing commitment to sustainability and scientific research. The latest, the ‘Mother of Pearl’ capsule collection by Berrak Zeynep Okyar with Studio Mamo, is the result of an in-depth exploration of bio-based materials and their application for an artistic and innovative vision of packaging. This project explores bio-yarn as a sustainable material alternative.
The process starts with sodium alginate, a natural polymer derived from brown algae. This is combined with water, glycerol and a blue mineral pigment derived from lapis lazuli stone to form a gel. This gel is then moulded into yarn, first in a wet state and then dried. The resulting bio-yarn is biodegradable and can be used to create knitted structures, suggesting new possibilities for future materials.
By combining sustainable material development with luxury craftsmanship and aesthetics, the project proposes a future in which conscious design can coexist with exclusivity, beauty and high-end craftsmanship, while redefining the language of luxury packaging. Emmetex will be showcasing this new research at Blossom PV Luxury Collections & Savoir-Faire (3-4 June) and ÉditionSpéciale by Luxe Pack Paris (17-18 June).
