Across the universe

Presented by Passamaneria Frassinetti

Desert, sky, atmosphere and then the black universe. Countdown, an explosion and liftoff. The ship is launched into the sky with its fiery tail blazing behind it. The astronaut gravitates in the darkness towards the farthest reaches of the universe. From all the way up there, the continents are just a few centimetres apart and the oceans are puddles on a trampoline. Delicate watermarks on sand emerge under the study instruments, natural patterns of immense landscapes are revealed miles away at a glance. Zooming out from the cloth reveals the striking brushstrokes in a universal painting. Floating in a waterless sea, spherical rocks and gases appear perfectly poised on invisible threads in the emptiness. Zooming in through a telescopic lens shows bright nebulae and fragments of stars. Invisible and impalpable forces bring otherwise scattered bodies together, forming orderly rings and circles around Saturn. Passamaneria Frassinetti takes flight, drawing inspiration from the diversity of gaseous and solid cosmic giants to create its cords and fringes. The colours of energetic sparks, beams of astronomical light and scientific instruments make up the palette of trimmings evoking streaks left behind by planets and stars.
