Emmetex, one of Italy’s most dynamic labelling companies renowned for its propensity for research and collaboration with upcoming and international designers, has always stood out for its innovative proposals both in its product range and in its network of collaborations. This capacity for cooperation has led to the Emmetex for Talents project, which channels the creativity and sustainability of the Exuberantia line into a collaboration with the Hyères International Fashion, Photography and Accessories Festival, in partnership with the Première Vision trade show.
By inviting festival participants to work with Exuberantia materials to create new and innovative design solutions, Emmetex for Talents is embodying the Tuscan company’s commitment to creativity, sustainability and dialogue with experimentation. The aim of the project is to see how well one of its most innovative lines, Exuberantia, made from textile surplus, can perform in the circular economy. Two of the talented finalists at the Hyères Festival were involved in the project: Mathilde Hiron and Alec Bizby.
Mathilde Hiron designed a warm and cosy tapestry-effect bag embellished with edges and handles crocheted with vintage beads and second-hand fur yarns. Entirely hand-woven, it combines colours inspired by shades of chocolate, red, orange and lilac, as well as bright and black details. Alec Bizby designed a T-shirt and a pair of shorts. Working with the idea of “entrapment”, he frayed the edges of the fabrics to create longer fringes. He then hand-wove tinsel into the design, creating a tulle T-shirt that collects and traps the fringes and free threads, producing an “underwater” effect. For the shorts, he stitched the edges of fabrics together, cut and stitched the piece and then washed it to create a unique texture.
Con il progetto Emmetex for Talents, l’azienda vuole esplorare nuove frontiere creative trasformando gli scarti tessili in opere d’arte indossabili, mostrando il potenziale ingegnoso e esplorativo della linea Exuberantia.
