‘Il filo che unisce l’ispirazione alla creazione’ launches at Textile Museum in Prato

Garments showcase from Feel the Yarn 2026 Contest is now open

The exhibition entitled ‘Il filo che unisce l’ispirazione alla creazione (Thread joining inspiration with creation)’ launches at 6:30pm on Thursday 2 July at Textile Museum in Prato. The show focuses entirely on garments from the ‘Feel the Yarn 2026 Contest’ and, alongside each garment by the young designers, there are also pieces from Irene Pietrobono’s collection entitled ‘ArteMonium, Il filo di Arianna la materia oltre la forma (ArteMonium, Ariadne’s Thread: Matter Beyond Form)’, previously exhibited at Pitti Immagine Filati. Colour is the centraltheme of ‘Feel the Contest 2026 – Master Edition’, a dynamic and sophisticated element that brings to life sensitive, bold and dynamic jumpers, capable of combining realism and vision, whilst always remaining true to the essence of the yarns, technological innovations, the richness of a cultured past and creativity.

In a world where visibility is obscured by an excess of images, colour becomes a powerful means of expressing personality and individual style, paving the way for new interpretative possibilities. After seasons dominated by grey and beige, all-black and black and white, colour is back in the spotlight, applying bold strokes across graphic design, fashion and art, exploring emotions, energising effects and amplifying its positive energy. Artists have never abandoned colour, often making it the sole focus of their work, with themes that are vague, indistinct and allusive.

Where knitwear forges a connection with art, the seasons cease to matter and new affinities focused on colour emerge. This creates products that are desirable because of their joyful imagination, their novel use of casual combinations or bold solid colours, their pairing of classic yarns with rich motifs, and their instinct to experiment in the pursuit of innovation. The exhibition is open to the public until 27 September during the museum’s opening hours.
