Urban Jungle Recap
Urban Jungle rewrites contemporary exoticism as Milan Design Week draws to a close
Alongside the Salone del Mobile 2026, Milan Design Week also came to a close, during which Zoom on Fashion Trends took part in a memorable partnership with D Green Design, a company specialising in nature-inspired installations. The project involved four companies supplying materials for some of the most prestigious brands in the fashion system, under the artistic direction of Peter Vlab, creative director of D Green Design and the mind behind the concept. The setting was the European School of Economics, an exclusive university campus in Via Tortona. The featured companies were: Emmetex with the Jungle Butterfly Tree decorated with the 50 x 150 cm label created for the occasion and the Jungle Table embellished with labels and accessories; Tintunita, which created the beautiful silk wraps given to visitors; Unizip, which transformed its zips into sensory experiences, allowing visitors to ‘open’ big jungle leaves; and Ricamificio Vittorio Vanoni, which fused the ancient art of macramé with the poetic fragility of leaves, creating a language capable of evoking touch, dreams and urban exoticism.
The experience was made even more enthralling by a cocktail party for design professionals held on Thursday 23 April, which was accompanied by a soft DJ set and exotic-tasting fruit and drinks. The atmosphere then changed to more of a club vibe, turning the night in the jungle into a lively and stimulating networking opportunity.
The week ended with an artistic performance by Laura Scalzo, aka Elle_ized, who has been transforming denim into a narrative surface since 2020 by reinterpreting masterpieces of art history and creating unique hand-painted creations. Each piece becomes a dialogue between identity and matter, between spontaneous gesture and aesthetic research. On this occasion, denim leaves became a symbol of the creativity that ran through the entire Urban Jungle installation.
