Beyond the canons of formal dressing: Spring/Summer 2023 collection from the long-standing mill
Vitale Barberis Canonico has been producing premium, refined fabrics in the heart of Piedmont for over 350 years. For Spring/Summer 2023, it presents an all-new blend of digital and real, channelling both tradition and contemporary taste and using technology to best interpret today’s aesthetic.
In the Classica line, the designs appear blended or replaced by solids with textured grounds in much lighter weights, offering freshness and comfort in the warmer seasons. The recurring theme is a harmonious colour palette of filtered tones, ranging from a softer take on classic masculine tints (blue, grey and natural) to fresher hues including ochre, orange, burnt tones, mint and sage green, teal and crimson. Denim, textured by definition, is presented in an infinite range of interpretations: in orthogonal fabrics, jacquard and jersey made from pure wool or in wool and summer fibre blends.
But it is in the search for new fabrics and new performances that Vitale Barberis Canonico really outdoes itself, accessing “forbidden” territory and going beyond formal dressing. Its new OFFLIMITS line features a boldly contemporary and sustainable aesthetic. Designed for the milder seasons, Technonatural fabrics focus on typically summery plant fibres, made high-performing thanks to technical fibres. In this union, cotton, linen, hemp and viscose become super-stretchy (mono or bi-stretch) or blend with recycled ultrafine polyamide to acquire maximum durability. The other lines – Hyperstretch, Polyhedric Wool and Hybrid – retain their qualities whilst considerably cutting their weight to ensure maximum comfort in the warmer seasons.
In addition to its long-standing values of Heritage, Innovation and Sustainability, Vitale Barberis Canonico is thus adding the Challenge of rewriting the canons of classic premium fabrics.
