Gucci x Adidas arrives on June 7th

Collection lookbook released

Designed by creative director Alessandro Michele, Gucci x Adidas merges the label’s symbols with those of the iconic sportswear brand. The collection expands on the streetwear tailoring seen on the runway with a series of sport-inspired pieces featuring the kaleidoscopic aesthetic of Gucci’s Exquisite show. Alessandro Michele looked at archival fashion catalogues before placing a cast of characters in dynamic poses with sports equipment against brightly-coloured backgrounds, all shot by Carlijn Jacobs.

Both represented by a three-stripe motif, Adidas and Gucci combine emblems in ready-to-wear pieces that rework classic sporty silhouettes. Joggers feature Adidas’s three white stripes down one leg and Gucci’s green-red-green web down the other. Prints team motifs such as the Adidas trefoil and the GG monogram, seamlessly fusing both traditions. Even more formal items, such as the heeled shoes, suede leather loafers and silk scarves, are given a casual twist in this hybridisation process. Similarly, the retro aesthetic takes on a contemporary look bolstered by the idea that there are no hard-and-fast rules.

In line with the shared commitment to innovation, progress, sustainability and community, the collection proposes various items in eco-sustainable polyester, cotton and viscose. The first lookbook comes ahead of the collection launch, set for June 7 in select Gucci stores, Adidas x Gucci pop-ups and online, as well as Adidas’s CONFIRMED app.
