A journey through the Emilia-Romagna textile district

In this article we will look at some of the companies at Expo Modena, the Consortium for the internationalisation of local micro and SMEs, which aims to boost the global development of its members (covered in this article). The brands we will feature enable the Modena-Carpi textile district to gain global recognition as an exporter of style and knowledge in Italian fashion. Exploring their latest Spring/Summer 2022 collections, we will give you insights into the history of these companies so rich in experience and craftsmanship skill.

The first brand we will look at is Cocoba Fashion House. Made up of a 5-person team, this small Modena-based company has transparency, professionalism and creativity as its core values. Thirty years’ experience in the sector enables them to follow customers throughout the production process, from initial sketch to final product, guaranteeing painstaking attention to the smallest detail. The collection features clean, elegant lines, skilfully teaming leisure and activewear. Staying in line with the latest trends, the use of modern pale colours blends seamlessly with Japanese-inspired dresses and trousers. A discreet nod to a more active, floral mood finishes their look.

We now shift to Carpi for our next company, Donne da Sogno. This brand, founded by Luciana Martinelli and Tamara Gualandi in 1994, designs for women who change over time whilst keeping their innate aesthetic and elegance. For its production, Donne da Sogno makes use of the valuable resources of the Carpi textile district, renowned for its excellence throughout Italy. Its expressive strength takes Italian tailoring expertise all over the world, to the great appreciation of the Asian market. And this is the world the brand draws inspiration from, transporting us with its new collection into a kaleidoscope of shapes and colours. Spanning casual and elegant, neutral shades and floral prints, its collection perfectly channels the versatility of this company.

Continuing with Gisella M, a brand owned by Gil srl which has firmly established itself in the Emilia-Romagna manufacturing landscape since 1986. With great attention to detail, Gil supplies its buyers and customers with output always in line with market trends, infusing its work with the distinctive touch of Italian tailoring, such as precise stitching and finely crafted fabrics and materials. These elements are clear to see in the brand’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection, featuring beautifully made and high versatile pieces. In these looks, floral print dresses and sporty blazers showcase the company’s multifaceted style, which also nods to casual and activewear.

Our final brand is Idea Tessile. The Carpi-based company has over thirty years’ experience in women’s knitwear and, having focused on in-house production, it guarantees extremely high standards of precision and punctuality, not to mention the undisputed quality of its items. For this brand, the value of Made In Italy, or rather Made in Carpi, is fundamental. Since 2014, Idea Tessile has also committed to increasing its exports to promote these values on the international market. In addition, the company has focused on specialising in knit stitches and special fabrications such as jacquard. Its latest collection clearly demonstrates the brand’s versatility and skill in knitwear, with pieces featuring a wide variety of volumes and shapes that all have colour, elegance and modernity in common.
