LĀU

The antidote to boredom

Superzoom is on the lookout for interesting names on the Italian independent scene. Small-scale projects developed with care and love. To rediscover the real idea of contemporary, sustainable, welcoming and affectionate fashion.

Know what a good mood feels like?

Then you will know that, no matter how down you may feel, you only have to glimpse something special to be transported to another dimension of colour, shapes and dynamism. That’s what happens with LĀU, an independent project by Roman designer Lisa Anderlini who playfully imbues her work with a light touch of irony and geometry.

The project by Lisa Anderlini, an Italian designer with an eclectic background, begins with a Master’s in Architecture, a love of art and design, and her own personal interest in mathematics. Her different experiences around the search for form, material and synthesis have led her to create an explosive world reminiscent of Memphis style, filled with experimentation and industrial design, colours and desecration of forms.

In addition to the skilful use of colour combinations, travel and dreams also provide inspiration for LĀU, a metaphysical place where the watchwords “strength, elegance and spirit” are related through abstract, dream-like and timeless realities. Take the latest collection, which features Magritte-like atmospheres of skies and bowler hats merged with pop ice lollipops and big surreal eyes.

In general, love of geometry and art in all its forms has driven Lisa to create a unique, recognisable style through the power of synthesis. Irony, bold colours and oversize silhouettes channel a comfy style teamed with trompe l’oeil details and touches of sporty elegance.

Founded in 2011, the brand has decided to retain total control and ownership of its own operations on the market.

LĀU is a one girl band,” Lisa explains to Superzoom. An independent, “direct-to-consumer” project that entirely cuts out the distribution side, instead focusing on controlling its own narrative through social media and its website. The project’s strength therefore lies in its strictly coherent vision, encompassing its style, visuals and communication. Many brands that choose to take ownership of their own distribution and communication, exploiting the possibilities of online selling, forge close, up-to-date relationships with their customers/ambassadors. It’s also a way of being sustainable, avoiding overproduction, shortening the supply chain, and having pieces made locally by trusted makers.

Together with seasonal collections, LĀU also collaborates with international artists and creatives on exciting limited editions, with explosions of colour and designs that leave you in a good mood.
