Mainetti: a sustainable vision

A new business model for a circular economy


Mainetti, a world leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of hangers and packaging, has for over 60 years provided its customers with innovative products by developing specific, customised projects for enhancing their garments at the point of sale. High quality and innovative items go hand in hand with the fundamental principles of social and environmental equity. Indeed, the company philosophy is founded on three basic requirements: reuse, durability and recycling. 

Mainetti is also a partner of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and a signatory of The Global Commitment, which works with influential worldwide organisations to speed up the global transition towards a circular economy. It recently joined the Full Circle initiative with targets to meet and actions to carry out in the immediate future and within the four-year period 2022-2025. The first target is decarbonisation (cutting the use of fossil fuel-based energy in favour of renewables), now 61% fulfilled, with the goal of reaching 80% by 2025 and 100% by 2030, offsetting the remaining carbon balance by continuing the forestation programme launched in 2021, which involves 6000 trees being planted every year, one for every employee. This project, called Foresta Globale Mainetti (Mainetti Global Forest), enabled the company to reach Carbon Net Zero in 2021.

Beauty, quality and care are teamed with resources for efficiency-improving technologies and an increasingly holistic approach to sustainability: from the selection of materials (paper, card, compostable materials from renewable sources), exclusively-designed products and recycled hangers, to increasing numbers of customers shunning virgin plastic. All materials are then certified and the results are subject to regular assessments according to internationally recognised ethical and sustainability standards.
