Summer in Italy 2023

Fashion, Music and Art according to Centergross showcased at Bologna

Against the backdrop of Bologna‘s stunning Teatro Arena del Sole, the Summer in Italy fashion show unveiled the best Spring/Summer 2023 collections from Centergross on 1 February. The evening was one of a series of major events placing the city at the centre of international creativity and industry. For Centergross, Europe’s largest ready-made fashion hub, which has organised Winter Melody (showcasing winter collections) for several years, it is a further step towards positioning Bologna in the calendar of big fashion capitals.

“We are very pleased with this evening’s success,” said Centergross Chair Piero Scandellari. “This special edition confirmed once again that this is a winning strategic choice to complete our journey towards becoming the project leader of the International Ready-Made Fashion Hub in Bologna.” The Ready-Made Fashion in which Centergross specialises follows the rhythm of the seasons, creating on-trend collections with fast manufacturing, distribution and continuous replenishment, and where product quality and affordable prices remain the cornerstones of a unique district. The shows began with the Gil Santucci womenswear collection, inspired by the paintings of Tamara de Lempicka, and particularly the portrait of Madame Allan Bott and the sensuality of this authentic femme fatale. Takeshy Kurosawa drew inspiration from Pointillism, the painting technique pioneered by Paul Signac, to design a young, elegant men’s style.

Next up was J.B4, a womenswear collection by Mattia Borghi, who was influenced by Ligabue and the naïf atmosphere of his painting. The abstract expressionism of American painter Jackson Pollock formed the inspiration for the ADM Revolution menswear collection.

King Kong‘s collection of youthful, metropolitan womenswear featuring authentic messages of peace was inspired by the work of Banksy. Angela Davis dedicated her work to Matisse’s cut-out paper works and to ’70s and ’80s vibes heightened by the artist’s unmistakable colours.

Carlo Parlati, a sculptor and painter from Torre del Greco, provided the inspiration for Karl Mommoo Homme, among the signature colours and elegance of the island of Capri. The event was drawn to a close by Souvenir, a womenswear collection inspired by Escher, which journeyed into the surprising, unpredictable dimension of the genius Dutch artist’s work.

The show was accompanied by female singing trio the Puppini Sisters, dressed by Rinascimento and Rinascimento Curvy, who were a big hit with the audience. The evening, under the artistic direction of Roberto Corbelli, the supervision of Project Manager Riccardo Collina and the communication strategy of Alessandro Nardone, was a journey into accessible beauty and a great show in which Fashion, Music and Art came together to confirm Bologna’s place as the undisputed capital of Italian Ready-Made Fashion.
