Meliastage brings three Chinese designers to Milan

Leading tanning company invests in creativity on European market

As part of the forthcoming Lineapelle Designers Edition, Meliastage (which will extend its customary welcome to Lineapelle’s new collection at stand G25-29 in Hall 2) will fully sponsor the participation of three Chinese designers (PabePabe, DOYS and dúběn), giving them a 16 m2 space to showcase their work made from the company’s own leather. After the success of previous seasons, Lineapelle Designers Edition, now in its eighth edition, reinvents itself and moves the fashion shows from the Rho exhibition centre to the beating heart of Milan, in Piazza Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa.

Alongside this, the prestigious Spazio Lineapelle location will host presentations of accessories brands in an urban setting that amplifies its cultural impact. From 23 to 29 September, the event will support 17 designers and brands who will present fashion shows, installations and artistic crossovers in what is not just a showcase but a workshop of ideas and a manifesto of style and innovation. And it is in this context of high creativity that the three Chinese designers supported by Meliastage are placed. PabePabe (who will present ‘New Sound Practice – Melodic Apartment’ on 24 September from 11am with a performance at 4pm) is an art accessories brand founded in 2018: inspired by everyday life and objects, it creates design by combining ready-made products with a strong visual aesthetic. The brand’s main leather design line can be viewed as a specific means of communicating with the world, emphasising meaning over functionality and presenting aesthetics as ‘ridiculous’

DOYS (Dig Out of Your Sole/Soul), founded by Yu Dong in 2023, is a footwear project: its designs embody an autonomous aesthetic beauty with a spiritual essence, defined by harmony, order, proportion and moderation. Celebrating the ‘present moment’ and the authenticity of craftsmanship, DOYS revives the aura of classic aesthetics to embrace the dramatic essence of life. ‘The State of the Ball – Collective Meditation on Shoe Polishing’ is the name of the project it will bring to Milan on 28 September from 11am with a performance at 4pm.

Finally, dúběn (which will present ‘The Journey of Duben’ also on 28 September from 11am) is a brand designing minimalist, practical and durable oriental bags for urban travellers. The brand focuses the fusion of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design philosophy, conveying a contemporary Oriental aesthetic attitude and wisdom. Drawing energy from the laws of nature, dúběn captures every inspiration behind the bags, passing it on to our lifelong friends.
