The Italian trade show Expo Riva Schuh, held from 13 to 16 January at Riva del Garda, has just drawn to a close. Exhibitors came from around the world, with a large proportion from Brazil: as many as 60 Brazilian brands attended this year, attracted by the export support programme managed by Brazilian Footwear Industries Association (Abicalçados) in collaboration with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).
Brazil has attended twice a year without interruption since 2006, all the way to the 100th edition. To thank and consolidate Abicalçados’s partnership with the fair, the president of Riva del Garda Fierecongressi, Roberto Pellegrini, presented the body’s managing director, Haroldo Ferreira, with a trophy, in addition to the various ceremonies organised during the four-day fair. Individual Brazilian businesses were also recognised: Calçados Status (Igrejinha/RS) and Calçados Werner (Três Coroas/RS) for their attendance at over forty editions. In addition to recognising long-term attendees, this edition also celebrated the first-time attendance of World Colors (Birigui/SP), the Brazilian children’s footwear brand, which was very pleased with the countries it made contact with during the event. Of course, this winter edition was not immune from the effects of the global macroeconomic environment.
However, the trade fair proved to be very useful for consolidating partnerships with expected customers, even if brands experienced a downturn in new opportunities for market expansion. Despite this, the results achieved by businesses were not all negative. Over the years Expo Riva Schuh has become one of the most important trade shows worldwide, as it plays a key role in exports and manufacturing, and this is often what makes the difference for many businesses.
