The winner of the second edition of the Contest promoted by Feel the Yarn with a ‘Feel the Green’ theme was announced at the latest edition of Pitti Immagine Filati. Marie Nardi, the winning young designer working with Monticolor, will now create a mini-collection (mainly knit) for S/S 2023 using yarns from members of the Consorzio Promozione Filati – CPF, some Italian knitwear companies and Camera Showroom Milano. There was also plenty of visibility for the 4 other finalists (Elena De Vita, working with Zegna Baruffa Lane Borgosesia – Pietro Lo Presti, working with Filati Biagioli Modesto – Lis Bazan, working with Filpucci – Marion Lacroix-Desmazes, working with Linificio and Canapificio Nazionale) and the 5 creatives (Giovanni Shun Colafato, working with Linsieme Filati – Brittney Austin, working with Filmar – Katie Craymer, working with Manifattura Sesia – Maia Harima, working with Filidea – Angela Moran Di Nardo, working with Pecci Filati), who placed behind them following the votes collected on feeltheyarn.it.
Marie Nardi topped the 33 young designers from Europe, United States, South America and Asia thanks to her two ‘Feel the Green’ themed outfits judged by the 10-person expert jury, made up of David Shah (Textile View), Elisabetta Scarpini (Feel the Yarn), Francesca Rulli (Process Factory), Francesca Tacconi (Pitti Immagine), Gigliola Maule (Camera Showroom Milano), Laurie Pressman (Pantone), Matteo Minà (MF Fashion), Ornella Bignami (Elementi Moda), Renato Baldassari (Maurizio Baldassari) and Roberto Collina (Roberto Collina). Sustainability was not just the creative inspiration for the designers taking part in the Contest but also the focus of the online survey ‘How sustainable are you’, conducted at Pitti Immagine Filati. Trade show attendees accessed the survey through a QR Code downloadable at the Feel the Yarn stand. Their responses gave them an understanding of how eco-sustainable they are and assessed their knowledge of environmental protection. As a reward for taking part in this social awareness initiative, Feel the Yarn gave each participant a special green gift: balls of sustainable yarn in ‘Feel the Green’ branded paper bags.
