Heimtextil 2027 ready to start

Innovative fabrics and new features for home textiles

Heimtextil’s key new features were announced at a press conference on 30 September at the Radisson Collection Hotel Palazzo Touring Club in Milan, ahead of its next edition set to take place in Frankfurt from 12 to 15 January 2027. The event highlighted the evolution of textiles and their increasingly central role in interior design and the furnishing industry. The theme of Heimtextil Trends 2027.28, developed in collaboration with Milan-based platform Alcova, is Home-Maxxing: The Performance of Everyday Living: a reflection on the relationship between performance, technology and the need for comfort and rejuvenation.

In the furnishing sector, the theme is reflected in a growing focus on materials that are capable not only of enhancing the aesthetics of a space but also of delivering tangible benefits and offering new user experiences. The three key trends identified by Heimtextil highlight a range of design possibilities. Staged Competence highlights technical functionality, transforming performance and construction details into aesthetic features. Inside, Out brings structures, connections and assembly systems to the fore, while Hyper Presence emphasises tactility, texture, materiality and sensory qualities, returning the physical experience of the material to centre stage. This research will be brought to life in the Trend Space in Hall 4.2, curated in collaboration with Alcova, where trends and materials will be showcased through an exhibition dedicated to the future of textiles.

Alongside the trends, Heimtextil 2027 will also showcase research and experimentation through the New Talent Area, which will bring together over 30 international talents with projects focusing on new materials, sustainability, circularity and innovative applications. For the furnishing world, Heimtextil represents an international barometer of the sector’s transformations: a platform where textile innovation, materials research and design come together to anticipate the solutions that will help shape the spaces of tomorrow.
