Brazil attends Shanghai trade show with 15 businesses

The All China Leather Exhibition (ACLE) is taking place between 3 and 5 September. Fifteen businesses from the Brazilian leather industry showcase individual stands at the event with the support of Brazilian Leather – a project that incentivises leather exports developed by the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil). Brazilian Leather’s project manager Letícia Luft, who has accompanied the Brazilian group, points out that ACLE returned to full strength in 2023 after a four-year break due to the pandemic.

“The positive signs from last year give us even more confidence for the 2024 edition, in addition to the fact that our exports to Chinese markets are up this year,” she says. Indeed, from January to July 2024, leather sales from Brazil to China and Hong Kong grew by 23.4%, making up 32.6% of Brazilian leather exports.

At ACLE, Letícia is speaking at the International Tannery Industry Executives Summit, discussing global data and trends with buyers and industry leaders. The Brazilian Leather project also involves business meetings, the conclusion of cooperation agreements and work with the media. ACLE 2024 has 1,200 exhibitors from 28 countries and approximately 28,000 visitors.

Brazilian Leather also has an exclusive stand where it showcases the Leather Preview (featuring leathers from a number of the country’s tanneries, first presented in July at Inspiramais), material promoting the entire Brazilian industry and the qualities of national production, such as sustainability, innovation and creative design in crafting leather.
