Secoli Fashion Show 2024
A look at talent
Great success for the Secoli Fashion Show 2024: on June 6th at the Talent Garden in Milan, over 450 guests applauded the runway outfits of the 44 designers featured in the 41st edition of the event. The 2024 show was special, as it was part of the celebrations for the 90th anniversary of the Milanese academy: nine decades that have helped to write the history of Italian fashion. In the front row, alongside the Institute and its students, were Regione Lombardia with its valuable contribution and the Municipality of Milan.
“The Secoli Fashion Show is synonymous with creativity: it is exciting for me to see our students’ looks on the runway, knowing that the verb ‘to design’ encapsulates the process of transforming an idea into something concrete and shared with others,” said Matteo Secoli, President of Istituto Secoli. “This year, the concept of heritage was interpreted by the designers, understood as time that gains value in the reworking of ideas and the definition of a legacy, which inspires and enhances the past with a vision always aimed at the future. We wanted to launch this challenge to our students: it is the reflection we are developing in the celebration of the 90 years of our fashion school, proudly the oldest in Italy, a milestone that serves as an incentive for achieving new goals.”
The event opened with the capsules of the ‘Designers to Watch‘ Daniele Cavallo, Miriam Maggioni, Michela Santegidi, and Ilaria Gerratana: the strength of their collections, the freshness of their creative vision, and the combination of aesthetic dimension and concept moved the audience. The ‘Designers to Watch‘ project, created to showcase the best graduate talents from Istituto Secoli, once again highlights its importance in previewing the future stars of the industry. The central moment of the evening was the collections of the graduates inspired by the theme ‘Diachronies. Scenes from time. Heritage as a celebration of return‘: the ‘diachronies’ of 40 designers, a combination of studies, design, and applied research, walked the runway.
Alongside their artistic production were names of excellence in the fashion world such as Albini Group, Asahi Kasei Fibers Italia (BembergTM), Brunello, Candiani, Eurojersey, Lectra, Lisa, Macpi, Tessitura Grisotto, all internationally recognized companies for their product innovation and focus on sustainability, which contributed to the work of the young designers by providing advanced materials, equipment and tools. The construction of the garments through prints and fabrics, processes and volumes gave rise to new visions of value: a concept of contemporary time and heritage looking to the future, an explosion of creativity that involved and thrilled the Talent Garden audience.
