Colin LoCascio, who worked for Marc Jacobs and Adam Selman, launches his eponymous brand in autumn 2020. His style is characterized by colorful crochet, creative denim, eco-fur and material mixes with an ironic and fun style loved by pop artists likey Cardi B, Anitta and Lady Gaga. “For Spring/Summer 2023 I looked at old images from my grandfather’s upbringing in Rockaway Beach, Queens, NY. I pulled a lot of our SS23 colour palette from images of my great-grandparents home. Prints such as ‘Sand Floral’ and ‘Brick-A-Brack’ came from images of the interior and the chachkas that adorned and decorated the many rooms in their house. I wanted to inject and imagine what the Fran Fine from Flushing would wear to the beach- loud printed separates in mesh with hot fix rhinestones, crochet with reflective mirror, crochet 3-d frogs and crochet ferns all felt appropriate for the Colin LoCascio girl. Our denim in particular had a washed out treatment, referencing the sun-faded, sea-salt mist that covered so much of my family images.”
