Emmetex Etichettificio and new Opificio Green experimentations

Crab Yarn and the union between marine and terrestrial materials

Emmetex Etichettificio, the leading high-end labelling brand, continues its research with the new Opificio Green project, which focuses on sustainability and maximisation of natural and recycled resources. Teaming craftsmanship and technology, the company uses materials such as lotus, seaweed, eucalyptus and Crab Yarn to create beautiful, regenerated items. One of the major new items in this line is Crab Yarn, which combines marine and terrestrial materials: the chitosan in crab shells is combined with cellulose to create a durable and sustainable yarn.

Crab Yarn gives surfaces a unique look and feel, embellished with fabrications such as dry embossing or out of register digital printing, which makes each piece unique. Another experimentation is a natural yarn for labels and ribbons made from the stem of the lotus. Its sheen, teamed with recycled polyester, creates minimal and sophisticated weaves. A craft paper made from dried petals is used to make various items, including one with a tassel that can double as a bookmark. Seaweed fibre is used to create labels and hang tags that retain the natural imperfections of the material, revealing visible signs of its marine origin. The combination with recycled polyester warps creates refined colour contrasts, while seaweed fibre paper celebrates tactility and transparency without using inks.

Eucalyptus offers great textile versatility, with its light yet durable yarns ideal for creating sophisticated weaves with a balance of tactility and sheen reminiscent of the strength and harmony of nature. With these experimentations, Opificio Green consolidates Emmetex’s vision: to transform all-new materials into design elements that convey the beauty of nature and the importance of a responsible approach to production. A philosophy that shows how textile labelling can go beyond functionality and become a visual language of innovation and environmental protection.
