Sitip at Performance Days

Company commits to sustainability

Sitip, founded by Luigi Pezzoli in 1959 in Valle Seriana and currently run by the second generation of the family, was one of the exhibitors at the 30th edition of Performance Days (the fair targeting the textile industry with the aim of representing the cutting-edge in technical fabrics with a firm focus on sustainability held on 15 and 16 March in Munich). Sitip is a landmark manufacturer of synthetic and stretch warp-knit and circular knit fabrics for industry as well as sportswear and urbanwear. During the event, Sitip‘s fabrics demonstrated the company’s commitment to high-tech fabrics production over a broad range spanning cycling to outdoors. The 2023 Scott Racing Team kit was also on display at the company’s stand.

The Italian mountain bike team will wear the jersey in Sitip recycled fabrics made using RoicaTM EF premium sustainable stretch yarn by Asahi Kasei Fibers. Two fabrics in particular were chosen in post-consumer and GRS certified recycled polyester: Native-Bicimania and Native-Pirata with Native Sustainable Textiles and Microsense Soft Performance technologies, which are comfortable on the skin, easy care and enable maximum breathability during physical activity. The Scott Racing Team kit, made by Rosti, also includes the bib shorts made from Native-Thunderbike Power fabric. One of the many Sitip fabrics was selected for exhibition at the Performance Forum, which aims to highlight the latest innovations with a particular focus on fluorocarbon-free, Bluesign certified and recycled products.

The Sitip product selected by the forum is Native-Cosmopolitan Sydney, which is 76% recycled polyamide and 24% elastane (130g), which is particularly suitable for women’s leggings and tops.  It is a ‘fine gauge,’ post-consumer, recycled fabric with added Native Sustainable Textiles technology, used on fabrics made from recycled yarns and low-impact chemicals, which use fewer natural resources. Bi-elastic, suitable for raw cut, and full dull, it offers compression and excellent elastic recovery. Eclipse Sun Protection technology provides excellent coverage and maximum UV protection (UPF 50+) while Microsense Soft Performance technology gives the fabric a gentle softness, making it comfortable against the skin. The product’s sustainability is Bluesign and Oeko-Tex certified. But that is not all, because the Sistema Italia area also exhibited three fabrics from the Cosmopolitan Fashion Tech line: Cosmopolitan Orion, Cosmopolitan Brera and Cosmopolitan Citylife.

The first, made from 76% polyamide and 24% elastane (135g) is a warp-knit fabric that can be widely used in urbanwear. Bi-elastic, suitable for raw cut and printable, it is ideal for base layers such as women’s tops worn under jackets but also leggings. Cosmopolitan Brera, another warp-knit fabric, is 75% polyamide and 25% elastane (170g) targeting athleisure and men’s and women’s shirting. Thanks to Eclipse Sun Protection technology, it provides excellent coverage and maximum UV protection. Finally, Cosmopolitan Citylife, also 75% polyamide and 25% elastane (175g) is a bi-elastic, warp-knit fabric idea for what we call “techno sartorial” urbanwear, like the men’s jacket and trouser suit. Thanks to Eclipse Sun Protection technology, it provides excellent coverage and maximum UV protection (UPF 50+) while Microsense Soft Performance technology gives the product a gentle softness, making it comfortable and breathable against the skin. The three fabrics are Bluesign and Oeko-Tex certified.
