Creativity on the runway: great reception for Secoli Fashion Show
Explosion of talent at event’s 42nd edition
On 5 June, Milan’s Talent Garden was transformed into a stage of excitement and talent: over 500 guests and as many via streaming took part in the Secoli Fashion Show, ably and expertly hosted by Giorgio Secoli, an event that has harnessed the values of the Institute and its community for 42 years.
As in previous editions, the event opened with ‘Designer to Watch’, a project dedicated to some of the School’s most talented students, who presented their first personal collection to the public, a manifesto expressing their aesthetic sense and narrating their identity. Also starring in the evening were 31 other students from the Institute, who presented their collections resulting from years of study, dedication and passion. Thanks to the knowledge and skills they have acquired, both in terms of style and technical design, the young designers demonstrated how a combination of talent and training is essential for entry into the professional world.
The students worked on the theme ‘Thauma | projections of the unexpected’ – an unprecedented journey between creativity and innovation, rediscovering wonder as the origin of amazement and giving life to the unexpected; the creative act is born from the encounter between intuition and experience, opening up new visions of the contemporary. Both women’s and men’s collections were created, ranging across the entire wardrobe from tech-sporty to formalwear. An entire universe interpreting contemporary fashion. The event was supported and sponsored by major institutions that have always believed in the value of education as an engine for change and the future: Lombardy Region, Municipality of Milan, ANTIA ETS – National Association of Professional Fashion System Technicians, National Chamber of Italian Fashion, IACDE – International Association of Clothing Designers and Executives and Piattaforma Sistema Formativo Moda ETS.
In addition to the institutions, companies, press representatives and stakeholders from the textile-fashion sector also gave the students and their collections a great reception, supporting them in this important start to their careers. The partner companies not only attended the evening to support the young designers, but also worked alongside Istituto Secoli during their training, giving them the opportunity to visit production facilities, gain first-hand textile production experience, and use highly innovative fabrics and printing technologies. The support of an increasingly wide range of companies reconfirms how crucial the link between brands and training is for the future of fashion.
“The Secoli Fashion Show was once again a success,” commented Matteo Secoli, President of Istituto Secoli. “A highly anticipated moment by our students since their first year, a symbol of our teaching approach and our training method, which combines technique, creativity and vision. It is their first major milestone, but also the beginning of a journey of challenges and opportunities. With 90 years of history, Istituto Secoli is looking to the future with the same energy and passion as always. Two major new announcements are proof of this: firstly, a new training centre is set to open in Milan in 2026, which will flank the long-standing headquarters in Porta Venezia and the prototype school in Novara. The second concerns our commitment to talent: for the first time Istituto Secoli in collaboration with NextCouture will offer two young designers who showed the Secoli Fashion Show a real chance to make their outfit a saleable garment, available on the market.” NextCouture is an innovative digital platform, a contemporary showcase of social media, community and selected brands that supports the designers of the future in transforming their talent into reality; within its international showcase it is able to host unique, Made in Italy pieces that can be sold worldwide and customised by the end user.
